HEY GIVE UP. I know that I can be a bit of an enigma. Every week I emerge from the shadows with these routes, shrouded in mystery and foist them upon this group without any apparent method to my madness. Today, that ends. I will grant you a glimpse behind the curtain to let you know my process and hopefully shed some helpful insight into the inner workings of GIVE UP. Be prepared to take notes.

To make this route, I followed an exceedingly complicated and methodical process, which many people may not fully be able to grasp: I asked Catherine where she wanted to start from this week, and then I asked her where she wanted to end. I put those two points on a map and then -- and this is important -- connected them with a route that looked fun.

There you have it folks, a rare peek into my genius as a route creation artist. You're welcome.

Anyway, this week we are going to Garden Cafe over in East Deutschtown. Astute GIVErs UP will recognize that we passed it last night on the last mixup of the year. It's true. We're going to start at the weird parking lot at the end of the jail trail. We're going to meet up around 7:30 and roll at 7:40 sharp. Please don't text me and ask me to wait, we'll just both end up disappointed in the end.

To this ride you should bring a bike. You should also bring a helmet. Money for coffee or a generous friend willing to buy you coffee would be helpful. The sun is getting lazy this time of year, so bring blinky lights. Water? Yes. Snacks? Optional, but also yes.

There is no official return trip on this ride. I will eventually be returning to the start, but I make no promises on when I will leave or what route I will take home. If you need an escort or ride buddy to get back to the start (or wherever you're going after coffee,) you might want to coordinate those plans before committing to coming to this ride.

Sadly, I must report that I have no control over the weather despite decades of working on this gap in my skills. Should it be raining, we will cancel by 6:30am tomorrow morning. Please RSVP to this event here on Strava for updates.

Time: Arrive at 7:30, leave at 7:40am

Distance: 5-10 miles (one-way)

Starting Point / Route: Starting point and route to change every week and be announced here at least a week in advance.  Trying to make them a bit centrally located so everybody can get to work on time.

Speed: Probably average 11-12 mph overall.  Will wait at the top of any hills (if there are any) because I'm a bro like that.

Bring: Water, gloves, snacks, no really you will want gloves, helmet, lights, sense of adventure, gloves

Description: A reasonably casual bike ride in which we all meet up somewhere early in the morning, bike to a place that has coffee, drink a cup of coffee outside with each other, and then disperse to the winds.  We are not necessarily doing return trips to the start, so please be prepared to get yourself to where you're going after coffee.  Really this is just an excuse to ride bikes before work starts on Friday.

Bring water and maybe some snacks.  Helmet highly suggested because we'll be on roads.

Feel free to invite people who can bike

We probably will not do this ride if it is raining in the morning, I'll announce cancellations here by 5:45am morning-of.
