2026 PedalPGH Training Rides

Every other Sunday between June 21 and August 16th, we will be hosting training rides that get progressively longer (and hillier!) to ease you into Summer bike season and have you ready for PedalPGH at the end of August. These rides are free to attend, open to everybody, and suitable for anybody who is comfortable riding in a group but wants to be extra ready for the 53 Mile Endurance Challenge at this year’s PedalPGH event.

All rides are no-drop and we will wait at the top of hills until everybody catches up.

This year’s schedule looks like this:

  • Sunday June 21 @ 12:00pm: 20 miles (Route TBA)

  • Sunday July 5 @ 11:00am: 27 miles (Route TBA)

  • Sunday July 19 @ 10:30am: 34 miles (Route TBA)

  • Sunday August 2 @ 10:00am: 41 miles (Route TBA)

  • Sunday August 16 @ 9:30am: 48 miles (Route TBA)

“Route TBA” will be replaced with links to routes, details, and RSVP info on this page one week before each ride in the series. (For example, the June 21th route will be posted on June 14th.) Please also note that times above are meetup times, and we will attempt to roll 15 minutes after listed times. (We meet at 12:00pm on June 21st, but will roll at 12:15pm. Hopefully.)

You should bring a helmet to each ride, flashing rear lights are also suggested. Bring water. Bring snacks to keep you carbed up - I personally suggest a small handful of swedish fish for about every hour you're riding - you need to keep the tank full to avoid hitting the wall and bonking out.

You should probably pack some electrolytes too, especially on hot days and as the rides get longer. There's a product called "SaltStick FastChews" they sell at Thick Bikes that I personally swear by, maybe give them a try if you're still figuring all of this bike stuff.

Start and end points for each ride will be the parking lot of the East End Brewing Popup Beer Garden at 1836 Oxline St., Pittsburgh PA 15233 (along the North Shore trail)
